Het pand staat aan de Harderwijkerweg 411\u2013413 en is gebouwd in 1731, wat te zien is aan de jaarankers op de gevel. In oude documenten uit 1782 wordt het al genoemd als \u201cde swaan aen de Bovenweg\u201d, en rond 1796 was er een herberg in gevestigd. Die herbergfunctie bleef bestaan tot zeker het midden van de 19e eeuw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Toen in 1812 de burgerlijke stand werd ingevoerd, koos de toenmalige eigenaar, Geurt Jansen, de achternaam \u201cDe Zwaan\u201d, ge\u00efnspireerd door de naam van de boerderij. Architectonisch heeft het pand een rechthoekige plattegrond, een rietgedekt wolfdak en een witgepleisterde voorgevel. Opvallend zijn de luiken, die beschilderd zijn met een rode zandloper op een wit veld\u2014een kenmerk dat het pand een eigen karakter geeft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De Oude Zwaan maakt deel uit van het historische dorpsbeeld van Hulshorst, dat vroeger meerdere herbergen kende, zoals De Leeuwerik en Het Witte Paard.
